Qianmen, one of the ancient gates to Old Beijing.
The Tianhecheng Restaurant where we ate several times while in Beijing. It had excellent food, great service, and very reasonable prices.
Rural farmers working in the fields. This was taken from the train window on the way to Chengde. A herd of goats also grazes on the land.

Also taken from the train, this restored section of the Great Wall was an impressive site winding through the mountains north of Beijing.
Besides farms and rural peasant villages, there were many factories scatterred along the way from Beijing to Chengde.
One of the many beautiful man-made rock gardens in the Summer Palace in Chengde.
This is the exterior of the noodle stand Mei-O and I ate breakfast in on our last day in Chengde.
Outside the Qiuxuanjiaozifang jiaozi Restaurant where we had a delicious hot pepper and fish dish, shuizhuyu, along with several types of shuijiao.
