In front of Chairman Mao's mausoleum
on Tiananmen Square. There was a really long, slow moving line to get into the
mausoleum.

| In front of one of the residences in the Forbidden City. |

In one of the great courtyards in the Forbidden City. It was pretty hazy that
day. The visitors this October morning were relatively sparse, especially compared to last year
when we were there. Chick here to see a
"bird's-eye" view of the Forbidden City, compliments of Google
Earth.

| In the Imperial Gardens within the Forbidden City. The bronze statue
in the center is a mythical qilin. |
|
 |
| With one of the many giant statues along the Sacred Way leading to the
Ming Tombs. As you can tell, it was raining, although lightly. |

| At the Great Wall at Badaling. |
|
 |
| Another Great Wall picture. It has always been a dream of mine to walk on
the Great Wall and have a memorable picture of my visit there. This is it. Here's another
one. |

| On the beautifully kept grounds of Tsinghua
University where we went with one of Kuan's friends who received his doctorate there. The
pond is filled with wilted lotus flowers which, even in that state, were impressive. |
