The street where the Jade Buddha Temple was (on the left.) The street was packed with tourists lining up to get in, buses parked on the streets, and lots of souvenir vendors hacking their wares.

The main gate into the temple.

The Sitting Buddha. No pictures of this artistic treasure were allowed. This, along with the other Buddha pictures on this page, is from a post card I bought from one of the street vendors.

A second Jade Buddha, this one reclining. The Buddhas were remarkable works of art. These two main Jade Buddhas were about life size.

A third Jade Buddha, reclining and much smaller than the other two, with surrounding statuary and adornments.

Us in front of one of the temple's many halls.

Mei-O walking down an exterior hallway to one of the temple's halls of worship.

Besides the Jade Buddhas, there were several other non-Jade Buddhas, beautifully displayed for the faithful to worship.

Worshippers in the courtyard burning offerings of paper money and other paper objects to send up to their ancestors in the smoke. Many years of Communist rule have failed to put an end to popular religion in China.

Mei-O offering a prayer to the Goddess of Mercy.
